The Nemadji Trail Energy Center can fill those gaps to ensure reliability and resiliency of the grid As we move another step closer in our carbon transition, we want to share the following with you Nemadji Trail Energy Center will provide vital backup generation when renewable resources are not available. This plant can quickly ramp up or down to maintain reliability of the regional electric grid Nemad Trail Energy Center will use natural gas to generate electricity and will not rely on resources such as coal or diesel oil. By using this facility as a complement to renewable sources, the use of carbon resources will continue to drop on our regional grid Nemadi Trail Energy Center has received 14 approvals from independent state and federal regulatory bodies and agencies. Local labor leaders have publicly supported this project, as it will bring family-sustaining construction jobs and economic growth to the community. The project will create an estimated 350 construction jobs and 25 full-time jobs when operational The project will generate $1 million each year in new local revenue, with approximately $650,000 going to the city of Superior and $300,000 to Douglas County The project partners (Minnesota Power, Basin Electric and Dairyland Power) have listened to community concerns and have made important modifications to the plant design.
