Announcing the 2018 Douglas County Hazardous Waste, Lead & Medication Collections Northwest Regional Planning Commission i making it easy for residents to dispose of unwanted or unusable household chemicals Such items as oil-based paints, unwanted medication, solvents, pesticides, hazardous cleaners, fluorescent and high-density light bulbs, lead tackle/shot, oil filters, rechargeable and button batteries, mercury, old gas, antifreeze, and cell phones, will be accepted. Some items collected require a fee, see below CLEA Event schedule is as follows: Materials may be brought to this collection only durng designated opeSaturday, June 23* hours. Listed below are items that will have a disposal charge: » 9:00 am-11:00 am In Poplar at Fire Hall 4941 S. Village Road 1:00 pm-3:00 pm In Solon Springs at Solon Springs Solid Waste/Recycling Facility 11903 S. Holly Lucius Rd. 50s per fluorescent bulb 4 foot and under (includes CFL's), 75d per fluorescent bulb over 4 foot . 1.00 per oil filter Pre-registration s required for businesses wishing to dispose of chemicals and reasonable charges will be assessed. Pre-registration isalso requested from farmers that wish to dispose of hazardous farm chemicals; the service for farmers to dispose of chemicals is free of charge up to 200 lbs Items not accepted at this event: electronics, appliances, tires, asbestos, alkaline batteries (go in garbage), ammunition, explosives, radioactive wastes, dried and/or empty paint cans and latex paint (non-hazardous and must be dried out and disposed of with regular garbage).
